EXAM UPDATE

January 22, 2014

Good morning,

As the morning has continued the storm and snow has picked up and the roads continue to be difficult to navigate.  With that in mind we will be moving the C Block exam to 10:00 (10:00 – 11:30).  H Block exam will follow at 12:00 (12:00 – 1:30).  This will allow more students to take the bus instead of driving and for high school students to have time for lunch here at school.  Please note these changes.

Sincerely,

Philip Conrad
Principal

Good morning everyone,

As you got ready for school this morning I am sure that you heard the forecast for tomorrow.  In case you did not, they are forecasting significant snow this afternoon (Tuesday, January 21st) into tomorrow (Wednesday, January 22nd).  In the event that Mr. Liebow cancels school please be aware that all exams will be pushed a day
.  The order of the exam schedule stays the same.  If there is no school tomorrow (Wednesday, January 22nd) then the C and H block exams will take place on Thursday, January 23rd.  All other exams will follow in order.

If instead Mr. Liebow calls for a delayed opening the first scheduled exam will begin at the time announced for the opening of school.  The second exam period of the day will begin two hours after the start of school.

I hope that this information helps students plan for all possibilities during this important week.

Best wishes on all the exams for the students this week

Herren addresses Rockport students on dangers of drug addiction

Herren addresses Rockport students on dangers of drug addiction

Former NBA basketball player Chris Herren spoke to students at Rockport High School and Middle School Tuesday.
Herren, a high school basketball legend from Fall River, Massachusetts, realized his dreams by playing for the Celtics in the NBA, only to lose it all to addiction. Drug-free and alcohol-free since August 1, 2008, Herren has refocused his life to put sobriety and family above all else.
Herren shares his story with audiences in the hopes of reaching just one person and making a difference in their life. With the release of his memoir, Basketball Junkie, in May of 2011, Herren was approached by hundreds of people and their families looking for assistance in their road to recovery. Inspired by their stories, he formed The Herren Project to educate students and adults about addiction and to help others in taking the first steps toward recovery and a life of sobriety.
Herren delivered this very powerful message to Rockport 8-12th graders on Tuesday showing excerpts from the ESPN Film documentary “Unguarded” which shares Herren’s professional and personal story from high school through his pro career. He also touched on topics such as drunk driving, abusing drugs, peer pressure and bullying.
