Letter: Community support boosts Rockport schools

To the editor:
The faculty and staff of Rockport Middle/High School would like to thank the educators from throughout Massachusetts that made up our Decennial Accreditation Visiting Team.
The team arrived on Sunday, Oct. 6, and remained with us until Wednesday, Oct. 9. The team was here to validate the self-study report that we have worked the past two years to prepare.
In that time, we have worked to create our core values and beliefs, express our 21st Century learning expectations for students, re-write our curriculum in an Understanding by Design format, learn to utilize a variety of instructional strategies, and design formative and summative assessments. We also worked to create a culture of high expectations, academic excellence, interpersonal skills, and civic responsibility within a framework of a caring school environment.
All of this could not be accomplished without the support of the community of Rockport. The citizens, families, businesses, town officials, and community organizations continue to be supportive of our school and we appreciate it very much.
Thanks again to everyone who participated in our visit for helping to make our school the best it can be.
