A.R. Gurney's The Dining Room is coming!

The Rockport High School Drama Llamas will soon mount their production of A.R. Gurney’s The Dining Room.

The show is set in a single room – a dining room.  The room and its furniture – its table and chairs – are the only features that remain constant from scene to scene within the show, which is comprised of 18 vignettes.  There are 57 characters played by 26 actors.  The characters are all from different times and places, their stories are not cohesive or orderly, but they all share one room in common.  In this way, as the characters bustle on and off the stage, the dining room takes on an importance and personality of its own.  This is not a plot-driven play.  It is something closer to a character study.  As such, the actors have been working diligently to discover the humanity in each of the characters they portray.  Likewise, the technician have worked dutifully to build a beautiful set that is worthy of representing such a commodious room – a dining room.

Please consider supporting the nearly 40 students who have worked collaboratively to construct this production.
