Congratulations to the following RHS Student-Musicians who were selected to participate in the Northeast District Senior Music Festival. After auditions of over 1,100 students from 50 public and private schools held in November 450 students from grade 9 through grade 12 were selected to participate in the prestigious Massachusetts Music Educators Association event. The program offered by M.M.E.A. is an enrichment opportunity for musically talented high school students. The students were selected to perform in the Senior District Concert Band, Orchestra, Chorus, and Jazz Ensemble. They will rehearse with guest conductors and then perform in concert at Lowell High School in Lowell, Massachusetts on Saturday, January 7, 2012. Representing Rockport High School in the Chorus are O'Malley Bach ('12), Quenton Hurst ('15), and Nelson Pike ('15); Ben Tuck ('12) in the Jazz Band; and Madeleine Downs ("14) and Ali Steer ('13) in the Orchestra.
In addition, Madeleine, Ben, and O'Malley were invited to audition for All-States in January. If selected they will perform in the All-State concert at the Massachusetts Music Educators Conference at Boston Symphony Hall in March.
Congratulations to all of the students!
